Virtual Dream Team at Kentwood

… as published recently in the Downtown Denver News …

For Downtown Denver realtor Andrew Gonzales it’s all about respect. Over the last three years Andrew and his business and life partner Bill Verdon have been able to translate their philosophy of respect into a thriving and lucrative partnership establishing themselves as virtual “dream team” at Denver’s Kentwood City Properties, LLC.

Andrew and Bill are one of the three teams in Kentwood’s 17th Street office and last year they managed to win the title of “Top Producing Team” of 2005, selling a whopping 16 million dollars in real estate. The secret to their success is simple, the same philosophy of respect they’ve built their business on seeps into every other aspect of their lives and the results are nothing short of incredible.

Life partners for 17 years, Andrew and Bill decided to establish themselves as business partners three years ago. The stress of the corporate environment was initial impetus that prompted Bill to consider a career in real estate. After 18 years of service in the restaurant industry Bill decided to get his real estate license as a safety net, so that he would always have something to fall back on.

After officially deciding to leave the culinary world back in 2001, he began selling real estate part-time and helping out in the Kentwood office on the weekends. It didn’t take long for Bill to discover that he had a knack for the business; he closed out his first year with over eight million dollars in sales and was awarded the Denver Board of Realtors “Rookie of the Year” prize.

After Bill’s initial success it become very clear to both men what their next move should be. “His first year out he won the Denver Board of Realtors ‘Rookie of the Year award,’" says Andrew. “It was a really fun time for him so that next year we decided to get together and work as a team.”

Although the move from personal relationship to business partnership can be detrimental to most couples Bill and Andrew have managed to pull it off with the greatest of ease. Andrew says of the partnership, “It all just fell into place. We bring two different things to the table.” In his mind their success lies in the perfect combination of necessary skills. “I’ve been doing this for 12 years so I knew the administrative part. Bill kind of had the sales background and I kind of have the marketing background and when you bring it together it’s just unbelievable.” Andrew is the only one in awe of the team’s success.

Every year Andrew and Bill hold a client appreciation party to show their gratitude for every client that has touched their lives and the attendees arrive in droves. Party attendance grows each year as more and more clients spread the word about Andrew and Bill., and everyone from old friends, to new client, to new family additions come to have a great time. This years’ fourth annual party was held downtown at Lannie’s Clocktower Cabaret.

And given the breadth guests that arrive one thing becomes increasingly apparent as the night parties on. Andrew and Bill’s clients are more that just customers; they are friends and family. The client relationship is everything to these two and this is why every year they go out of their way to let them know how much they are appreciated. In fact, asked to comment on his favorite part of the business, Andrew is quick to respond, “I love wrapping closing gifts. Our clients are the reason we are able to do what we do.”
