THE CITY OF DENVER TO HOST A STRONG GROUP OF CREATIVE COMMUNITY EVENTS

Denver, Colorado hosts three different cultural attractions for the creative community.

By now everyone knows that Mayor Hickenlooper and his Denver Office of
Cultural Affairs are committed to transforming our city into a zone of
tremendous cultural significance and value, with a wide slate of programs
occurring throughout the year. In the next few weeks there are three special
events that should be of interest to the creative community, both celebrations
and learning opportunities.

1. On February 27th the Ellie Caulkins Opera House will host the Mayors
Awards for the Arts, a lively evening that honors community members and groups
that signficantly advance the arts. The event is free to the public and worth
attending, not just to bask in the limelight with the honorees but also to enjoy
a unique mix of entertainment in one of the most remarkable spaces in the city.
The event is from 5:30 – 8pm, and RSVP’s are recommended, contact 720-865-4318
or write to doca@ci.denver.co.us (and
tell them Plus gallery sent you….)

2. The MetLife Forum returns this year on February 28th and March 7th for the
program INVENT – INNOVATE DENVER. These two presentations cover the topic of
“How Does Living in the Creative Capital of the West impact our ability to be
creative/innovative professional leaders and workers?” FORUM #I on the 27th will
focus on “Design Thinking: Tools for Innovation” and takes place from 9am- noon
at the Stage of Boettcher Concert Hall at the Denver Performing Arts Complex
(14th & Curtis). FORUM #2 on March 7th will focus on “Design Thinking:
Success Stories” and takes place from 9am-noon at the Stage of Buell Theatre at
the Denver Performing Arts Complex (14th & Curtis). To find out more and

METLIFE FOUNDATION NATIONAL ARTS FORUM SERIES.

This forum is presented as part of the MetLife Foundation National Arts Forum
Series. In the coming year, forums will take place in 20 cities nationwide and
will investigate themes related to the arts and workforce development, a topic
that allows for an exploration of the central role the arts can play in creating
a workforce capable of achieving corporate and citizenship objectives. Excerpts
from each forum will be posted on the website, http://www.americansforthearts.org/,
and a culminating forum will take place in June at the Americans for the Arts
2007 Annual Convention in Las Vegas. Forums are produced by program partners of
Arts & Business Council of Americans for the Arts, which is focused on
developing private-sector support for the arts within the organization’s broader
mission of advancing the arts in America.

3. Finally, the Wellington Webb building is once again the site for the
Building Creative Business Expo, a day-long affair on Saturday March 3rd that
provides workshops, lectures, and informational tables to enlighten and educate
the public at large towards greater success in the creative professions.
