Lower rates spur talk of refinancing
Rates on 30-year mortgages dropped again this week to the lowest levels in about six weeks, and averaged 6.22 percent this week. This was the second drop since December.
Analysts said the drop reflected weakness in the housing industry. Mortgage giant Freddie Mac did the survey.
Talk of lower rates has begun to provide opportunities for those in adjustable rate mortgages to start the process of refinancing their loans. For those that have been stuck in an ARM product and watching their loan rates float upward, this is welcome news.
