Home sizes may begin to trend smaller
Recent research on trends in "new urbanism" has shown that average home sizes have been increasing since the early 1970′s, while the number of people in the household has decreased.
the latest trends indicate that the home sizes have peaked or are nearing the peak. A new study by the building industry predicts that during the next 10 years, buyers will get enough square footage.
Some architects feel that rising energy and construction costs will force home buyers to make do with smaller homes.
This trend would indicate a greater demand for higher density homes.
Since builders are targeting baby boomers with their new housing products, they are increasingly including amenities such as walking trails, dog parks, fitness centers, and community swimming pools.
This "new urbanism" trend is seen throughout the country, and is alive and well in Denver.
