Highlands Bridge Project
Denver is buzzing about a new pedestrian bridge project connecting LoDo with Highland Park. The Highland Bridge project is located where the 16th Street alignment crosses over Interstate-25 in Downtown. If you’ve driven down I-25 recently you’ve noticed the bridge has begun its year long construction process. It’s in the later phases of construction and is scheduled to be completed in late September 2006. The purpose of the Highland Bridge is to complete the connection from the Downtown Central Business District through the Central Platte Valley and the new Commons neighborhood. This connection helps the city realize its goal of providing a high quality life for visitors and residents of the Central Platte Valley by making the environment as pedestrian and bike friendly as possible. The Highland Bridge is a unique pedestrian walkway rising over 70 feet above the ground and spanning approximately 320 feet. For more info see the Highlands Bridge official website.
