Groceries in Downtown Denver now a reality

The new Vitamin Cottage at 15th St and Platte is fabulous!  Thank you for coming to our neighborhood!

And at the newly renovated Glanarm Place building at 1600 Glenarm, downtown Denver has fallen in love with Cook’s Fresh Market, recently relocated from the Denver Tech Center!  Thank you Cook’s!

Area residents can walk or grab a quick ride on the 16th St Mall Shuttle to pick up a few items for dinner or a picnic.  It is a great thing, and long overdue.

There is talk of a Whole Foods in the Central Platte Valley.  Rumors continue to swirl, but one has to wonder whether the Whole Foods stores in Cherry Creek and Belmar would suffer if downtown residents stopped coming to those stores … maybe we should boycot those stores to improve our odds of landing one downtown.

Chris Frampton of East West Partners, Developer of Riverfront Park, recently commented that the smart people at Whole Foods likely know exactly what kind of car he drives, what foods he buys, and how often he drives near the two existing stores.  Why would their management want to change what is currently working for them?

Maybe a Whole Foods will come to the Central Platte Valley during the buildout of Union Station and the other blocks remaining from the Trillium receivership parcel.  But for the time being, we finally can visit a friendly local food emporium to grab our favorite goodies.
