DENVER – Bill Moore, a long-time Denver business leader and former owner and president of Moore and Company Realtors, along with daughter Linda Niederman and son-in-law Peter Niederman, have acquired The Kentwood Company residential real estate firm in a private transaction effective today. The acquisition entails full ownership of The Kentwood Company in Greenwood Village, Kentwood at Cherry Creek in Denver, and 65 percent ownership of Kentwood City Properties in downtown Denver. Former co-owner of The Kentwood Company, Roger R. Campbell, will continue as President of the Company, and former co-owner John Fitzpatrick will now serve as General Sales Manager of the firm. Top-producing former owners John R. Burns and Jim Nussbaum will remain as leading broker associates with the company. Chris Vuletich and Julie Hummel, former co-owners of Kentwood at Cherry Creek, will also remain with the company as broker associates. Peter Niederman, a past president of the Denver Board of Realtors, will now serve as Chief Operating Officer. The Kentwood Company has posted total sales volume in excess of $1.3 billion for three consecutive years, with a total of 2,890 real estate transactions in 2006. Founded in March 1981, the company’s 150 broker associates boast the highest average sales volume per agent of any real estate company west of New York City. Bill Moore, a former partner with the company for 10 years, has now re-affiliated with his friends and colleagues in the real estate business. The company’s name, logo, and locations will remain in place. "The Kentwood Company is one of the best managed real estate firms in the country with excellent agent support, many of the most productive real estate professionals in the business, and a first-class, high-profile image," said Moore, a past president of the National Association of Realtors. "The acquisition is a re-affiliation with former colleagues and long-time friends who will remain with the company. Peter Niederman, who served as Chief Operating Officer at Moore and Company, brings a wealth of experience to the firm and I’m pleased to be working with him once again in the real estate business. After selling Moore and Company a few years ago, I remained active in a limited partnership dealing primarily with land entitlement and the rezoning of properties. But I missed the core of the real estate business, which is running a family-owned residential real estate firm. We are all very excited about returning to the real estate scene in Colorado." "We have had numerous opportunities to sell The Kentwood Company over the past decade, but all were turned down due primarily to our company’s culture," said Roger Campbell, President of The Kentwood Company. "We were concerned about what would happen to our agents if we were acquired by a national or publicly-held real estate company. We have had absolutely no agent turnover for eight years, so it’s obvious that we have created a home for our associates. We built a tremendous brand and outstanding image that will continue under Bill Moore’s leadership. We have a local buyer that people know and trust, and we are all pleased to re-affiliate with Bill, a true stalwart of the real estate business in metro Denver." Jim Theye, Dee Chirafisi, and Jan Nelsen will retain their 35 percent ownership of Kentwood City Properties in downtown Denver, with Theye continuing to serve as Managing Broker. Chirafisi was the firm’s number two producer in 2006 with more than $61 million in total sales volume, number one in the company in 2003 with $68 million in sales, and is consistently among the top five producing real estate agents in Denver each year. Nelsen will continue key management responsibilities integral to the firm. "The Kentwood Company has always enjoyed a very desirable image and a tremendous tradition of excellence, and this will continue under Bill Moore’s leadership," said Theye, co-owner of Kentwood City Properties. "Bill’s reputation in the business community is unsurpassed, and his integrity is well known throughout the real estate industry. Both Dee and I worked for Bill at the former Moore and Company, so we have a solid history together and great mutual respect. Bill’s knowledge of the real estate business is unmatched, and he will help guide The Kentwood Company to an even higher level of success. Dee, Jan Nelsen and I look forward to working with our new co-owners, and we are also pleased that the former owners and partners are remaining in key management positions with the company. This has been a remarkably seamless transition and the tradition of excellence at The Kentwood Company is in very good hands." The Kentwood Company’s leading real estate agents are among the most experienced in the business. The company is known for its outstanding customer service, dedication to the use of advanced technology, new home marketing expertise, and unblemished integrity. The Kentwood Company’s website has won national awards, and each of the company’s listings is featured as an individual website. The company also boasts its own in-house marketing department.
