| Jacques Benedict (1879 1948) was one of the most prominent architects in Denver. His works encompass a number of well-known landmarks. Several of his structures are listed on the National Register of Historic Places. His enduring designs include magnificent homes, churches, and public buildings, spanning a range of timeless classic architectural styles. Jacques was especially adept at melding his buildings with their natural surroundings. Born in Chicago in 1879, Jacques studied architecture in Paris at the renowned École des Beaux-Arts. He came to Denver in 1909, and quickly gained numerous distinguished clients. Many of his buildings are listed on the National Register, State Register or are designated as Denver Landmarks. Country Club Historic Neighborhood Coinciding with the founding of the Denver Country Club in the early 1900s, the Country Club neighborhood was first developed. Finely crafted homes on generous, oversized lots are a hallmark of the area, which has served as the domicile for many of the prominent citizens of Denver. Developed in phases from 1902-1927 the Park Club Place, Country Club Place, Country Club Annex and Park Lane Square additions make up the district. Over the years, property owners used the citys notable architects to build their homes. In response to potential scrape offs, Country Club became one of Denvers first historic districts, preserving the beautiful homes that reside in this special neighborhood. Today, Country Club is one of the more beautiful and active neighborhoods in town, featuring large trees and beautiful entry urns. The neighborhood association hosts multiple family events and gatherings per year. The neighborhood also hires a private security patrol. At over 100 years old, the area just keeps getting better with age. | |
